I've Started My Coat!

I've finally started my coat...got most of my Christmas knitting done, so it's time for Liz-knitting!

I'm using Plymouth Encore Mega in color 2426 (it's a heathered purple color). I only have a few inches done, but I love the color and the pattern--the seed stitch, on such large needles and yarn, looks almost like a popcorn stitch. Very nubby. I think it'll be gorgeous!

I visited my sister on Monday, and she gave me a zippered leather case with a dozen sets of knitting needles in it of varying sizes. It had belonged to my aunt. I remember seeing her knitting when I was a child, so I thought it was great to use the needles from that set to make my coat with. Passing knitting down through the generations!

So how is everyone else's coat coming?

Time to Start

Hope everyone had a great holiday season and got lots of knitting done! I have changed to the new version of Blogger at some point, since the admin of my book club upgraded and we all went along for the ride. Anyway, if you can't post please let me know and I'll send you a new invite to join the group again. I can't see the member statues from the admin page, so please speak up :-)

My coat is on the needle with just a few rows. I swatched with two colors, a solid blue and a blue/red/purple variegated both Paton Classic Wool. The swatch came out very nice, so nice that I decide just use these two yarns for the coat since I'll be knitting the shorter version and there is enough yarn to go around. My gauge is way off, so I had to recalculate so it comes out right as size Medium.

Joan Has Joined the Group

Long time knitter, designer Joan Hamer has joined our little group, and Joan will be working on the Southwest goes Uptown coat after the holidays.

I've added a list of participants (all four of us!) and everyone's blog links to the left. All of us have Admin function, so feel free to be creative. This is OUR blog!

Uptown Yarn Requirement

I'll be knitting Southwest Goes Uptown by Lily Chin published in Knitters Magazine Fall 1999. Here is the yarn requirement from the pattern:

Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted (4oz, 190yd)
In the order of Small, Medium and Large
A. Main color: 6, 6, 7 balls
B. 2, 2, 2 balls
C. 1, 1, 2 balls,
D. 1, 1, 1 balls

I'll be using this stash of Paton's Classic Wool with blue as main color, and others thrown in.

I'm In

Okay, I'm in, at last. Blogger didn't like me. But at last I'm here.
